Ungulates

Next is the hoof which was common to ancestors of ungulates, like deer, horses, pygmy hippos, rhino, and camels. Hooves evolved from claws. They make better runners. Some ungulates like horses and deer lost some toes and now only have one or two. Hooves had to be good at holding ungulates up and giving traction which means it keeps you from slipping around.
